Where did you get the chicks you have now? Some hatcheries and feed stores will label Easter Eggers as "Ameraucana." But true Ameraucanas are always sold as a recognized color of the breed standard (wheaten, blue, black et) and assortments are usually actually EE... hybrids that carry the blue egg gene but often lay greenish eggs.

I always thought certain breeds were hard to get in my area too, but one of my local feed stores will often get unusual breeds I didn't know about... they let me take a photo of their order sheet so I know what breeds are arriving each week and I can plan what day to get my chicks. Just call around and see what you can find locally and you won't have to order a hatchery minimum. I just got my first olive egger chick this spring!
