HI. I'm new to chicken keeping and am looking forward to advice from those of you who are not.
I recently brought home 6 chicks (asst) They are approx. 3 months old and so far so good except for today I noticed some feather picking. Now sure what going on but I'll watch closely.
My husband and I live on 4 acres with 5 dogs and now the chicks. I'd rather horses but I think I'm getting too old. Hope to make some friends and learn some good stuff from all of you.

hello Katrina, welcome to BYC, so eggcited to have you and your flock join us.

that behavior is normal, they should get pecking order be established shortly, only time you would intervene would be if there was sever injury going on, it's usually some pecks and lots of squawking.

Note I am the typo queen when not properly caffeinated lol

How do I find my state threads?

To find mine, I searched forums for my state name. Many threads came up and I looked for one with recent posts. Maybe someone else knows a more direct method.
