Hello everyone!
My name is Rikki, and even though I grew up in a large family that raised chickens throughout my entire childhood - I am a “new” chicken owner again after a 15 year hiatus. I got married to my sweetheart, Josh, in 2005. Since then we have had three boys (9, 6, and 5), we live in Arkansas, and own two German Shepherds, a moody Basset Hound, a cat, and a gecko. Today we finally bought 6 chicks (2 RIR, 2 Golden Comets, and 2 white Australorps) and 2 ducklings (Pekin). I am excited to gain from everyone’s experiences and advice! Actually, when I was making my purchase in our local Tractor Supply (in Conway), I met an extremely personable and friendly lady who suggested that I join this group! I was so nervous to even be out in public buying chicks from a store, and she was so sweet and kind while giving me advice. I’m just anxious to see if I can “make the cut” as a chicken owner on our little 1 acre property on the outskirts of town. Looking forward to browsing and getting to know everyone!
