Hi! I'm new here, well sort of, about 2 weeks now. I have been browsing the internet for info on raising chickens and have seen posts from Backyard Chickens answering many different questions. I used to have chickens many years ago but we had to move so we rehomed our girls. This year we decided to start again. I have 5 chickens, 1 welsummer (maybe) 2 Dutch bantams, 1 silkie and a speckled sussex rooster, not by choice, but he is beautiful. He just doesn't like one of my bantams (which is my favourite), so this makes me very sad. We live in the country with 3 acres but not ready to try free ranging them. Too many predators around. We have 1 grown son that lives at home with us, and a golden retriever. I have 1 son that is married with 2 grandchildren but don't get to see them often as they live quite far away. We are big homebodies so besides chickens I like crafting, puzzles, family time, cookouts, swimming, drawing, gardening & going wine tasting with my bestie. I also work full time.

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!
