I looked at your rooster thread in the Emergency section and I agree with Eggsessive, it appears he may have Pox. Generally a healthy bird will survive this virus but they will feel bad for a couple weeks. All you can do is keep him comfortable, and give him vitamins. I like to use Poly Vi Sol, children's liquid vitamins you can get in the vitamin section at Walmart. Use the kind WITHOUT the iron. .25ml once daily given orally. These will help him heal faster. It may take a couple weeks to completely heal.
Thank you so much for your information I will buy him some vitamins first thing. Do I need to keep him in quarantine? I did see a couple of my hens pecking at his comb. I have him in a small cage away from the others. Thank you again for taking the time to help me.

Yes he will be contagious when the pox scabs get all weepy, these fluids will transmit the virus. You might keep him separated but around the flock until he heals. If he decides to go off his regular feed, just feed him what ever he will eat to keep weight on. Any simple human food just to keep his energy up too. He can go back to his regular feed once he heals.

Do you know if the eggs from my chickens are safe to eat if a chicken from my flock has fowl pox. I mean I don’t know what chickens may be infected and not showing symptoms??
