@Geo giaSpur - Welcome to the flock! Beautiful scenery you have there. Haven't been too much over in y'all's neighboring state, but took train rides through Blue Ridge once and went past an amazing river there. Fall scenery in the mountains was amazing!

As for predators - it's totally right to be concerned. Some of my tips include researching your possible predators beforehand and learn how to proof for them. Get game cameras surrounding coop and/or NEST cam (or similar) inside coop. (There's also having proof if a neighbor's loose dog comes up and starts in on the flock). If you're not comfortable trapping, get a numbers list from your state trapper's association in case you need them removed on your property. However, trapping can lead you to a new hobby in tanning hides and responsibly putting the animal to good use afterwards.
