Hi all,
I'm Tamara and we just moved to a farm in Maryland and are hoping to get chickens this spring. I've never had chickens before, but our plan is to have them for egg laying and pets. I don't have any idea which breed, nor do I know the easiest and most effective chicken coop to have, nor when the best time to get them is. A total newbie. I have a masters in applied entomology w/a focus on sustainable agriculture, so I know some basics but look forward to gathering more information. We have a 12 year old son and 2 dogs on 9 acres. I work as a scientist for an environmental organization, but remotely, so I'm here all the time. Thanks!
