I'm a new member here. Crazy how much great information can be found on this site. It is my go to for all things chicken.....
Anyway, I am new to chicken farming. Actually just starting to get eggs! My first hatch of Edd Shepherd's araucanas came on October 15 of 2000. All wonderful birds! I added a mix of other birds a few weeks later including one or more of Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Buff Orpingtons, Golden Cuckoo Marans, Golden Laced Wyandottes, Welsummers, White Leghorns, Ameraucanas (love their personalities) and a few Silkes (you know, cause they are so dang cute....). There are 24 of them in all. I decided to build my own coop because I just didn't like any of the pre-built junk (that was a 6 month weekend warrior project....). I have a german shepherd who is truly the mother hen that enjoys friendly games of chase here and there. Finding BYC is rather easy. Any chicken question on Google takes you right here. Excited to join the community!
