Welcome to BYC, @bbrensinger!! Happy to have you here!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new to chickens. I have moved my family from the city to the country in the last year and we just got our chicks this spring.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 5 currently

(3) What breeds do you have?
That is what I would like to find out. I thought they were Amercauna’s, but now I’m not sure. Any insight is sure appreciated!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The responsibility I can foster in my children, they learn to take care of something and learn where their food comes from. Also, the chickens are center aiming little things.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, reading, hiking, fishing

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married and I have 3 little ones, I raise my children and am a student.
We also have two former barn kittens, a 28 year old turtle, and 2 ducks. Our goal is to grow our homestead slowly and eventually include goats and a hog.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
This was a Google find
Also I wish I had proofread - it should read chickens are “entertaining little things” not “center aiming” - darn autocorrect! 🤪😂

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You certainly don't have Ameracaunas.
Your coop appears to be lacking in ventilation.
The chicken wire isn't going to keep most serious predators out.
Thank you! There is a window that functions, a dutch door, and hidden under the flashing is a vent that runs the length of the front.
As far as the wire, there are very few predators in our area. We have a trail cam that we have been monitoring for the last 4 months, and our neighbor has free range chickens that sleep in an open barn, she has yet to lose any from predators in her 25 years of keeping them! I have them contained more because my daughter is immunocompromised and I don't want her playing in chicken poop.:D
Would you have any thoughts as to what kind they might be?

It's difficult to get a good view of each bird behind the wire.
If you could post some unobstructed full body profile pictures that clearly show the leg color that would help.
Possibly Black Australorp, the white one appears to be a Leghorn, maybe a Golden Comet. Best guesses on few without better pictures.
