There is one that goes inside to the right of door that holds feed for winter. There are 2 little one to the right of that that hold grit and oyster shell they exit with a 45 right under coop. The big PVC by the nest boxes goes into a a 45 then we cut a trough in that 5 " extention. The trough was made by cutting the top half of pvc off and capping it. The trough extends under coop and hold their outside layer feed. I think it's strapped to underside of coop. I actually like your vertical feeder better as sometimes food gets hung up in the 45. I hope that makes sense. Carl do you have a screen on the waterer for leaves?
I have not added the screen yet. With the heat I do most of my punch list carpentry stuff early in the morning. I did find a fantastic way to filter the rain water before it gets to the down spout. I will add a drop of bleach every other week to ensure the standing water is safe. If you have any other way to ensure the standing water is safe I am up for advise on that as well. I will send a picture of the filter also.

How's build coming along? It's been very hot here last few days.
It has been brutal! The wind is blowing good but it almost feels like a convection oven instead of supplying relief. Her are some recent pics.

I know it's so hot , too hot to work in for sure. :wee:celebrate I am so ready for a break from heat as I'm sure you are too. It's so hard to have an unfinished project and it's just too hot outside. I did hear will be cooler next week for you. I see the screenl ooks like that would help me . We had a screen on end of spout in bucket but it got so full this spring then the water had a nasty scum on it. I have since put a piece of cheese cloth secured with rubber band to catch stuff that ends up in barrel .I will just toss it when dirty. I also added a pump ( big aquarium type)for aeriation to keep down algae. I think that helps. I have changed it out a couple of times to keep fresh cause little rain lately but they need fresh good water in this heat. I have also added some apple cider vinegar and they like that but that might have helped build scum it's trial and error this summer. Just in case I have a little waterer they had as babies that I keep with electrolytes in it too. They don't use it much but I see hens use that toowhen they need it.

Great job ! I bet your excited to let them go into it. Such nice shade but I agree it's like you set a fan in front of oven on 400 degrees!:barnie About the only way to get relief is to get sopping wet but that only lasts for oh say 20 minutes. ( I have me idea how my font went bold)

Yes. This fall we will be trenching in a line for the coop. I have a recirculating pump for the water to keep it from freezing in the lines. I have found in the past that tank heater and a recirculating pump keeps the water flowing.
I am going to try stock tank heater as well this year as last year with bitter cold spell ice split my whole side out of bucket with gutter imbedded in ice! That was a mess! I have a recirculating pump and aquarium heater on water line inside of coop. It works great. But it's a small set up cause I have a storage area sectioned off with chicken wire and that is where my heatable water jug is kept away from hens. We then made a pvc loop from bucket back to it with horizontal nipples in it. It provides them warm water in winter about 68 degrees . It was nice with cold snap I even put my hands in it out of gloves when it got so bitter last year. We did have to JB weld nipples to keep from leaking occasionally. That's been a trial and error also but I can't keep losing buckets every year do I will try stock tank heater for plastic this year.
