(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yup, chickens are new to me. My husband and father in law along with an 8 year old jumping up and down pressured me into accepting 2 chicks in about May. Reluctintly, I accepted the challenge for I love fresh farm eggs. After a bit, they grew on me. I bought another chick, then googled everything I could. I now have 3 healthy chickens. One is finally began laying 2 days ago. We've gathered 2 eggs so far.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Three
(3) What breeds do you have? I have 2 Plymouth Rock and one Offingham
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I enjoy their mannerisms
I really like my chickens and have enjoyed learning about them. Our biggest predators are raccoons but have been successful in keeping them at bay. We just encountered our first hawk this morning - I'm a bit concerned and will be keep them cooped more now that fall/winter is upon us.

I'm from south central Iowa about 30 minutes from the Missouri boarder.
