Hi everyone, I finally became a member today, I often came here to look for advice regarding my (late) bantam hen. I now have a Pekin and found I was searching nearly every day, ducks are SO different to chickens, so I felt it was time to acknowledge my gratitude for the help I've gotten over the past 7 years from all of you, thanks!!

Sorry about your Bantam girl, but congrats on the Pekin. I think ducks are easier to raise in some ways -- much weather-hardier, for example.

Since you've been aware of BYC for years, you know it's a great place and that many folks will tell you that a lone bird is an unhappy bird. While I agree more is better, I don't believe it's impossible to have a well-adjusted solo bird.

In any case, welcome to BYC; hope to hear more about your duck!
