Hi: I am Maureen and we have 12 hens, aka “the girls”. We are new chicken owners and on a steep learning curve. We do not have a rooster as they are not permitted per our HOA, but we do have a dominant female my husband has nicknamed the mother clucker. We are in Virginia and we have been getting about an egg a day, warmer days up to 5 eggs!
We also do the Saturday Swing… my husband hangs a head of cabbage or lettuce for them to play with…they are very entertaining, full of personality!
