You might not want to mix a flock of Brahmas and Australorps, especially as a new flock starter. Brahmas are heavy breed, designed to grow in a different way from the lighter breeds of chickens, and need a different feed, even as chicks. You would probably need 2 coops for the 2 different types of chickens, because your Brahmas would not get the nutrition they need eating the same food as the Australorps.

Hello Javier, to BYC. As much as I love brahmas, I'd have to say that australorps are a better breed for a self sufficient goal.
