Ideal poultry in Cameron, TX sells blue australorps. Have you considered giving your hen hatched chicks? I've found that my hens will all take to chicks that are under 3 days old. I'm not sure how far Cameron is from you, but Ideal will let you pick up at a nearby feed store, if you up for a drive.

I will check out their page if they have one. Cameron is a little over a 4 hr drive but not totally out of the question if i cant find something closer or by mail. We are in very northeast texas close to Ark/La/Ok borders. I didn't realize i could give her the hatched chicks. I just assumed she would reject them but your idea would be a lot simpler!

You might check around, some of your local feed stores might special order from ideal.

Yes, I do. Mine came from Welp, but you have to buy 25 chicks at the time -- they have very strict minimum order requirements.

I don't have any Ideal Blue Australorps, but I have other birds from Ideal and have always liked them.

A hen has to be actively broody to accept chicks. There are a number of articles and threads here that could help you.

This is a general article about managing your broodies: https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...rst-turkey-strut-to-weaning-the-chicks.76878/

I don't think there is an article specific to broodies adopting chicks, but you can ask about it on the https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/raising-baby-chicks.11/ forum and I'm sure you will get some helpful responses.
