Hello all and thank you for letting me join your community.

I started my first backyard flock about 14 weeks ago with a mixed lot. We started with 2 copper marans, 2 partridge rocks, 1 lavender orpington and 1 polish crested. I built them a nice 4x6 coop and 7x12 run in my backyard. They also free range every day in my fenced in back yard.

We added 2 new members to the flock when one of our Marans sadly passed away at about 7 weeks. 1 Wyandotte and 1 Domingue.

My family consists of me, my wife, 3 kids of which 2 have left the nest, my 12 yr old Shitzu/Maltese and our flock. We live in Wisconsin and are really enjoying our new chicken hobby.

Welcome, your chicks are around the same age as mine. I am also from Wisconsin. Wish I could free range mine but our back yard is 4000 acers of state forest, just to many predators. 2 weasels running around my coop the other day.

Weasels are my biggest nightmare. I hope you have hardware cloth with a hardware cloth apron - everywhere.
 
Yes, Hardware cloth everywhere. I have been building a addition to the coop for feed storage and a 1 bedroom apartment if needed for the Roo. My plan was to use fencing with 1x2 inch opening on the run for the addition which the chickens would get only a few hours a day in it to let them get some grass, but seeing these 2 weasels at 11 am made me see I need hardware cloth there also.
