It depends on where you are and the type of chickens, but to give you an idea, I have 3 silkies 10 weeks old that have lived outside for two weeks. Lows have been in the 20F's, highs at best in the 30s. They have a 3' x 3' hutch attached to a large pen. In the hutch is a cozy coop radiant heater. They snuggle up to that at night, but by day, they run around in the pen. It's covered so still has some dead grass vs. the snow around it. Every hour or two, they go back to the hutch to warm up, then out they come again.
That is so cute...I bet an adorable site to see.
