Welcome to BYC. A rooster, or even a broody hen, would not be a match for a dog. Good luck with your new flock!

My last golden was chased by a broody hen when he was a puppy. He never bothered another chicken.

Your last golden was a puppy and likely didn't have the prey drive of your current one.

If my last Doberman had been let loose in my chicken pen, nothing would have been able to stop him from wiping out my entire flock.

My current Doberman might pee herself if confronted with a broody hen bent on keeping her away from her chicks.

It all depends on the temperament of the dog.
