Hello, I have just finished reading the posts concerning the Golden Comet rooster. I have two of the rascals. All I wanted were some hens and some eggs. I now have two evil roosters that chase and peck my two mini dachshunds. The chickens are free range, and the poor dogs won't go beyond the fence anymore. Oh well, such is life never any guarantees. When hens begin to lay, are the first eggs small? I wasn't expecting any eggs until October, but we found 3 small eggs today.

Congrats on the chickens and eggs. & Yes, the first eggs can be small.

Thanks to all that replied on the egg question. How about keeping/discouraging the roosters from attacking the dogs?

I'm afraid I can only think of a rather permanant solution, if you know what I mean.

I agree there really is no rehabilitation of stupid roosters
