Hi everyone!! My name is Robyn and I am from Picayune Mississippi!! My husband built me a Chicken coop for Mothers Day and I am in Chic Heaven!! My chickens are not old enough to lay yet but I still run out every morning in the hopes of finding an egg. Can you give me an idea as to how old they need to be before laying? I have several different varieties, and have read that they all start at different ages. Is there a chart on who starts laying when that I could refer to?
Nice to meet Y'all.

Hi Welcome to byc

Chickens start laying around 20-25 weeks old. Some are earlier some later it just depends on the bird.

Hi there,
I am new to keeping chickens myself but have done an awful lot of research lol and I have read it's between 18/24 weeks old depending on which breeds you have. I hope some one can come up with a better answer for you x

Hi and :welcome

Glad to have you here!
It would be helpful if you could tell us what breeds you have. Hens usually start laying between 18 and 25 weeks though. I don't think there is a chart as such, but type the breed name into the BYC search bar and there should be articles that come up, which have breed specific information. Good luck!

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D
