Hi all,
I hope I can find some help. My son's 4-H chickens were killed last night and the fair is only 1 week away. Worse yet this is the 2nd group of chickens we have had, same thing happen with the first set that we had for 1 yr. We live in Southwestern IN, close to Cincinnati. Thanks for any help.

I'm very sorry for your losses.:(

The best thing to do is secure the coop before buying any new chickens. Find the hole and cover it with hardware cloth or board it up. Even weasels can get through a 1" hole.:/

My coop has zero openings(excluding the venting), which is inside my garage. Nothing can get in or out with both doors closed. We recently covered our run with hardware cloth, which makes it secure from predators.

from West Virginia! I'm so sorry for your loss. I agree with the previous post. Find where whatever is killing your chickies is coming in at and put something over it. Hardware cloth is good but if you can board it up, that would probably be better. If you need suggestions, there are lots of threads here to answer any questions you may have. The folks on here are knowledgeable and are more than willing to help! Glad you joined us!!

I'm very sorry to hear about your chickens. :hugs
I agree with the suggestion about hardware cloth. I've heard that one mentioned many times and it seems to work well. If the predators might be getting into the coop from below, you should think about burying the chicken wire round the perimeter to extend a little underground.

Good luck with any chickens you get in the future. :)
And :welcome
