I am a new member...as a child we had banty chickens and a rooster but they did not have a special coop or anything..I have always wanted chickens so I am looking at coops and trying to decide the best one to build and what kind of chickens are best for my area and laying eggs...I live in Touchet WA

If it is too cold up there and gets to about 40 degrees in the winter, make sure that the coop has insulation. Some ideal breeds for cold climates are Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Rocks. Those breeds are also good for warm climates and lay lots of eggs. Anyways,

Do look in the Coop section for ideas. There's lots of nice designs there.
