We are very very new . . . buying our chicks this week! We are buying 4 or so . . . not sure on breed, that is part of what I hope to find out here. A friend of mine introduced me here! I'm a full time mother of three and own 4 acres of land with lots of gardening and maintenance. My husband and I are highly involved in our community and church and run a business.

Welcome! I started with 3 chicks but when read somewhere that a small flock is happier with 6-8 birds so I decided to get 3 more. I have 2 barred plymouth rock (LOVE them), 2 black sex link, and 2 red sex link. I choose them because they are all suppose to be around the same size and should all be good layers.

Best of luck!

Hi im chicklover1998 and I welcome you to BYC.If I were you get a buff orington and other good layers if you want eggs and and get a silkey if you want a pet like chicken. I got the same amount of chicks and It is a good Idea to get more than one and to good lots of breeds for selection but that's just my opinion
so I bid you good luck at raising your chicks.
