hi everyone,
ive just bought a very large chicken coop and run which measures 9ft x 3ft , ive got 6 x 14 week hens in them, im just wondering, how much of a run do they require as I would like to keep some flowers and grass for the family home, the hens have settled in really well,but im just wondering if they need more space, I can increase the space if need be.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Standard sized chickens need four square feet of floor space in the coop, and 10 square feet in the run, per bird

Chickens are happier and less likely to peck each other from boredom and close confinement, if you adhere to minimum space requirement s- bigger is better especially if you think you will be adding to the flock, in the future
