Hi everyone! I have been thinking about getting chickens for a couple of years. And this year is the year it will happen. Really looking forward to any help and guidance. Michelle

ok, here is my advice: build your coop and run much bigger than you think you need, chickens are addictive! Use 1/2 inch hardware cloth instead of chicken wire (almost any predator can tear thru chicken wire), if you have dogs keep them away from the chickens (learned this the hard way), make your coop and run predator proof, and most of all have fun with the chickens, I love mine. The Learning Center is the best place to start https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Love your avatar Michelle. If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum, you can find and post on your state thread. That will bring you in contact with people who are familiar with what is going on in your area, how to handle the climate, predators, who has what breeds for sale etc.
