Hi, I'm a new member from Alaska. I am a chicken addict!! I own a country store in Kenny Lake and sell chicks in the spring. Last year I sold a variety of 650 chicks in our valley, which I think started a "chicken movement"!! I order from Dunlaps hatchery, and was pleased with what I got. But I have a growing interest in Ameraucana chickens and am dismayed that the hatcheries sell the Easter Eggers and also call them Araucanas and Ameraucanas. I would like to get some purebred Ameraucanas but don't know where to get them. Can anyone help me?
thanks
Marlene

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you are really making chickens popular in your area! You might try posting in your state thread to see if anyone knows of a breeder there. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/84141/north-to-alaska and the Breed thread in case there is a breeder who doesn't see the state threads https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...for-posting-pictures-and-discussing-our-birds you could also try the Buy-Sell-Trade forum, there are often at least hatching eggs offered ... of the commercial hatcheries the only one I can think of that sells true Ameraucana is Meyer and the pullet chicks are $20 each.

Good luck finding the birds you seek and welcome to our flock!

When you have 20 posts you can participate in the BYC Buy, sell, trade forum and may find your breed on there. It would be much better if you could find one locally so you wouldn't need to have it shipped.
