Greetings!
Chickens and waterfowl have been a part of my life since the early 70's. I now have chickens, peafowl, ducks, and a couple of turkeys.

Sour, I mainly work into the late nights. I have a new batch of snow to conquer NOW . No snow blower, no hunky kid to do it for me. Neighbors generally ignore me. I've been doing it at this house for over 50 years. I'm just somewhat younger than you are and I'm sure much smaller.

Still looking for the ski goggles I used the other day. My eyes are very sensitive to low temps.
If you check I always go back a few times before I hit the hay to make sure I covered every member that was visible at that time. I can't promise instant reply but I do everyone I can see.

Okay late to the party as usual but lets see I was 8 when we moved to Washington state I do have memories much earlier living with Grandma always being chased by her rooster I was like 2 maybe 3 collecting her eggs she had a round deep basket ... Grew up on cattle farm had 3 horses 1 bull I showed he took the titles walked with me like a puppy ... Now old mostly blind so such lot's of chickens 35 that includes 2 cockerels then there is 4 silkie in their own coop
I have fun greeting new folks

I've been slacking a bit as of late, but do try to greet folks and make each welcome personal! I think showing attention to introductions in a friendly way helps to show how caring and helpful BYC is as a whole!

I'm HomesteaderWife from Alabama, and we have a little flock of chickens and ducks and a few rescue dogs too. We enjoy self-sufficiency, and crafting- my husband runs the sawmill with skill, and I enjoy photography and writing.

We have two rescued Dominique hens, one mixed breed bantam we raised from hatch, and two Khaki Campbells. In the past we've had goats and rabbits too.

Tater the Khaki Campbell as a baby and as a young fella!

"Dee" aka Chicken Hawk or "Hawk" as a baby, our little hen raised up here.

Hello :frow
Welcome to Backyard Chickens. :welcome
:jumpy

My name is Myles and I live in Ireland. I grew up helping my granddad out with his flock of laying hens. In 2016 I saved a wild duckling from our cat and cared for it until it was able to be released back in the wild.
I then took in a lost white leghorn hen that had been living on the road for two weeks and then after that In September 2016 I decided to get a few more chickens to give the white leghorn hen some company, I also got a few ducks.

then fast forward to April 2018 when I decided to add a few more chickens and ducks because I enjoyed having them so much.
A breeder was selling a load of pure bred pullets I came home with a gorgeous golden Brahma pullet, a buff Orpington hen and a young RIR pullet.
The golden Brahma pullet just stood out so much to me, before then I had been looking up about Brahmas and I couldn’t get over how stunning they are.

In April I decided to order some Brahma hatching eggs to try hatching in a home made incubator that I had made. The breeder had told us that they wouldn’t be shipping them till the end of may.
sadly my beloved golden Brahma pullet and speckled hen were taken by a fox during this time. 🙁

when the eggs arrived at the end of may My RIR hen decided to go broody, so I scraped the homemade incubator idea and I gave the eggs to her instead. In early June 7 lovely little Brahma chicks and 1 little buff Orpington mix from our buff Orpington hen were hatched. I had also given away my white leghorn, black Minorca and rooster to a family that was buying one of my coops that I had for sale at Christmas that year.
fast forward to now and I now have 30 chickens, 27 of which are Brahmas, 1 RIR, 1 buff Orpington and 1 buff Orpington mix, 15 ducks and 10 Guinea fowl.
