YIKES! I dont drive in the snow. The wind here was pretty bad a few nights ago. I was awake all night worring that my chicken coop and the roof on my house would blow away, but we surived!

Viejo loco- I want to thank you again for the tip (that you gave me TWO MONTHS AGO!!...

.) I have been inside for a couple of days and have been trying to catch up on computer stuff! Don't have my chicks yet, but we have the coop ready and fence up. It looks like the 'flying' predators might be a problem in this area...I want to free range my birds. Do you have a problem with them?

We just keep telling ourselves that at least we don't have to shovel the wind!

We moved out of the mountains to get away from the snow!

Ok folks. I'm in Clovis now, east side of the state, and I'm trying trying trying to move to Sante Fe. Soooo who all is in Sante Fe? What are the rules for chickies up there? And does anyone know where I could get a job lol ;):P

We have quite a few of the aerial type predators also.. I use a wrist rocket sling shot an paintball pellets on them, (haven't hit any yet cause I'm a lousy shot, but I get close enough to scare them away).. The owls don't bother me because I have the girls all penned up at night.. Mostly, I think it's because I'm out there with them all the time, and the hawks stay pretty far away now.. I don't think they like going around people.. My old rooster has a special sqwack when one of them flies around, so I know when to look out... By law, you can't harm them, but that doesn't mean you can't scare them...

Yeah, I understand all birds are protected, except the game birds, in season...My hubby has one of those slingshots...I'm afraid I'd hit something that I really didn't want to! We had bear, bobcat and dogs kill my chickens when we lived in the mountains. I was kinda hoping the geese I have ordered would help scare off unwanted guests. I understand they can be noisy. Do you know anyone that has used a guard dog successfully? Or a scarecrow?
