I was really hoping i could have a couple roosters, i have 15 pullets so i figured that was enough to keep 2 roosters busy; but everything i’m Hearing is that its just a death match waiting to happen which i dont want...
Eventually i would like the broody hens to raise their clutches, at which point i would make a pen just for cockerels/roosters but thats down the road.

Totally depends on personalities. I've had ones that fight and ones that get along peacefully, accepting a dominant/submissive role.

Broodies are great, but fierce. LOL and the chicks grow up wild. But in my book that's ok, because they are street smart early on.

I've got a couple of 2 month-old Greenfire Marans cockerels (Birchen and FBCM) and Brinkhaven Cuckoo Bluebars if you're lacking in young male birds. They may go off to the swap meet soonly as I only need one roo in my zoo.

During the winter months you will see late afternoon balloonists taking a drift. The chill winter mornings require beaucoups of fuel to keep the balloons aloft and the winds aren't so prevalent in the afternoons (which is why summer flyers fly at dawn and ground early) provided no cold front is moving in, so you're more apt to spot them p.m. vs. a.m.

Thanks for the cockerel offer, I already have a Bielefelder cockerel i got from the Simms farm guy, so i think for now that is our rooster plan for this flock. Eventually once they start self propagating I may make another run/coop for the males.
Which reminds me of a question; With the same rooster in the coop, and allowing new hens to grow up, eventually he will be mating with his own offspring? Is this ok for a generation or two? What do people do about this?

Luckily chickens don't suffer too many incest genetic deviations. Hatcheries do that all the time as do some folks that like to line breed their stock. HOWEVER, if your bird has an obvious physical defect, do not breed it...or if you're breeding for show, watch for plummage deviations as they can be amplified.

On a seperate note, does anybody here in the Rio grande valley area have issues with worms in their chickens? I've never had issues in the city, but wondering if this is something i should be pro-active about in a more rural setting with all the other neighborhood animals...

I have a black copper marans/blue wheaten ameraucana mix cockerel you could have. He'll probably end up as soup in not too long.
