New Mexico

Come to think about it, years ago a nearby goat rancher had lice on his goats. Thankfully they never traveled over this far. :)

Goat lice & chicken lice are different- very host specific. So are human lice. Anmal lice may get on a person, but wont stay. Animal lice are a lot easier to get rid of than human lice. And if you think chicken or goat lice are creepy, you should see sheep keds!!! look like a cross between a tick & louse, YUCK!!! lol Our first sheep were very poorly kept when we got them & covered in keds.... gross.

Good to know about the lice. Make sense, being host specific. I have never had any cases of lice here, fortunately. I know the guy with the goats and lice was having a hard time controlling them. His place was not dirty at all. Must have either brought in some animals with them or the lice just got out of control somehow.

Yeah....the grass is even starting to grow! I was sure it was dead. Big patches of just dirt. I think the monsoons are going to begin kicking in now. The forecast is calling for bigger chances of rain next week. Keeping the fingers crossed!

How is the rainy season going for all of you? Some places getting rain, some not. Not enough here yet. A few spritzes and sprinkles, but we sure do need some all day rains. The forest service has just announced that we will lose 50% to 75% of all the pine trees here in the Sacramento Mountains. Already looks that way.

How is it going in your territory of New Mexico?

We got 4-5 inches last week. That was 2 full day long rains. Of course I wasn't here, I got sent to Canada for work and missed every single drop of it.

Other than that, we got 3" about 5 weeks ago and before that, it was August when we last got rain. Did get about 6" of snow late December though.

The forecast is looking better. 6 of the next ten days are 30% chances of rain. But we'll see, I'm sure we've all seen 80% chances in the 10day forecast go to 0 rather quickly.

Yowzer.... If it were cold (here in Corrales) we'd be getting some substantial hail. Yippee! (mainly because I was going to do lawn edging today and didn't really feel like it.)

It's RAAAAAIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!
