When I give up on the other eggs, I think I will have to eggtopsy them to figure out what is going wrong - why I am only getting one to hatch out of seven.

I was really hoping for better this time. Ursula is lovely, but she really needs a younger sibling.

Steen- nice incubator! You'll have PLENTY of birds!
Whoops- "egg-topsy" helped me to figure things out, what went wrong on what day... My Brinsea Octo20 has GREATLY improved my hatch rates, too! LOVE it!

I'm still waiting for my eggs to arrive. I'm beginning to wonder if they are ever going to get here!

Hattie laid an egg! In the nest box, and everything!

I took a picture of it, and while I was posting it to FB (because every moment of our lives must be documented on social media) the cat knocked it off the counter and the dog ate it

Well, I candled them and opened two that looked clear. Looked like they never really got started. I am giving the other four until tomorrow night, though I really have no hope for them. Just can't deal with eggtopsy of them, yet. Ursula is in with the other two older chicks, now. In the times that she has been with them there have been no issues. I hope it goes well.

I am fairly certain Astrid is a roo. S/he has a big pink comb for a 3 -4 week old. I really hope one or both of the marans are pullets, but it will be a while before I can tell. (Astrid is a barnyard mix/australorp)

Hi all from New Mexico. I haven't posted in Quite a while. I live in the north eastern part of the state with goats, chickns and dogs. Just got 4 new hens and a new oyster a friend gave me, so I am slowly integrating them into my established flock. Looking forward to chatting with you all. I have Nigerian goats, that I show. Chickens include Buckeyes, barred Plymouth rocks, partridge Plymouth rocks, Easter eggers, black australopes, and Orpingtons.
