New Mexico

Svenskavessla.... I hate to be a buzzkill, but is your friend raising stealth chickens in Rio Rancho? I thought they had a No Chicken ordinance...

I think they're allowed if your property is properly zoned, but I'm not sure....

Hello svenskavessla! I am freon Las Cruces, and have nine Silkie crosses, two orphingtons (don't think I spelt that right!), one sex linked, one white leghorn, and two speckled chicks that I think may be Plymouth rocks, as well as four ducks, a goose, and a turkey that thinks he is a dog. Welcome!

Hello all' I need to find homes for several Black Copper Maran and Welsummer roosters. I had to buy straight run at 15.00 per chick to get these breeds, but can't keep all these roosters. I live in northeaster New Mexico, straight up I-25 and can deliver to Albuquerque or anywhere along the way. I run a no kill farm so these boys need to be pets or breeding stock. I would like to get a little money out of them but am open. Just need to find them good homes.

Hi everyone! Yes, my friend has a double lot and is kinda on the outskirts of town (also, no roosters) so I think she's in the clear. Plus she bribes her neighbors with fresh eggs so no complaints ;)

Wow, my first reply...lol...been awhile for me, anyways Im a long time chicken owner but since the military I've been out of the loop but back again faithfully ! So I just started my collection of pet/egg layers in northeast Albuquerque and boy have I missed having chickens !! My mother in law is a breeder and local hatcher her in New Mexico and asked me to see if there was any interest in the area for sales or trades. We currently have 4 week old black tailed white Japanese Bantams $10 each...4 week old pullets of various full breeds for $12 and 2-3 month old pullets of various full breeds for $20 each...
I don't know if I can post my email on here but its ollienora at yahoo or call or text 505306375five...
we are looking to trade for some ameraucana bantams or wellsummer bantams..... pullets only...sorry....

Olliegrow:

It might've been the one in Bernalillo. It wasn't Corrales' Village Mercantile.

If you're interested in LF, I might have some after this recent hatch takes place (trying hard not to count the chickens before they hatch, btw). I've got Legbars, Wheaten Marans and some sexable Legbar x RIR crosses (EE). Oh, and whatever it is that TJ's has in their Fertile egg department. Scored some 3 day old eggs (which is fresher than my shipped eggs)...so they'll be production Leghorns or possibly AustraWhites.

Welcome back from the forces!

Hi everyone, I'll be in Corrales next week finally closing on our house! One step closer to becoming a New Mexican!

First task - figuring out where to put the chickens! I think there is a shed on the property I can convert, then chicken math can begin.
