New Mexico

Who is TJ? sorry not hip on the local feed stores...don't trust too many of them with our poultry...what kind of breeds did the feed store have? thanks for your help, don't know of too many places around here that carry true full bred chickens other than willbers farm in belen..

TJ = feed store for people. It's Trader Joe's. They sell fertile eggs that there's a forum on BYC here of the Trader Joe's Hatching Club. If you get good eggs it's the best deal for hatching eggs ever at $2.99/doz.

TSC has Chick Days usually in April. About that time Corrales' The Village Mercantile has several tubs of pullets...last year they had all sorts, like Minorcas, EE's, Sex-Links, Buffs, khaki ducks.

WOW...Cool. had no idea that trader joes sold fertile eggs...I have some broody hens that will hatch them no problem...This time of year it very hard to find pullets and chicks for sale, that's why we though we would get into the business. We are selling a lot to 4H clubs and people getn ready for the fair....always looking for other reeds to cross or breed with ours, my mom and in laws are very good with chickens..they grow on me the more im around them,....very cool pets that give you eggs!!! how can u go wrong with chickens..lol..

Will hopefully be attending the poultry swap in Tijeras to see if anyone in the area has a nice collection of breeds besides us..
Anyone know of places besides Willbers farm, Village merc or Bernalillo feed that carries chicks or pullets in Abq area ? We had to order from Privett before to get breeds but would like to see what available locally in town...
We love to trade also...Looking for Bantam ameraucanas and welsummer pullets...many thanks and see u all around !!

excellent information, will save it for next spring when more breeds are available..I know this time of year is tuff to start looking for pullets..many thanks for the info again..

I have a bantam dark brahma pullet that I need to rehome if anyone is interested. All of my chickens are LF Brahmas and I'm afraid that if one of the boys tries to mate with her she'll get hurt. It would be nice to get a good swap going. I haven't been to Tijueras, a three hour drive is a little much for me unless I know I have something to look at there or sell. Does anyone know if the I-25 egg train will get going again this spring?

Did anyone get a chance to go and check out the poultry swap in Tijeras or Edgewood? Any chickens or hens of nice quality around? Bantams or easter eggers?

I was thinking about hosting a swap of some sorts here in Cruces since we never have had one in the area. Would anyone be interested?
