I've never been. Don't have transportation to get there right now. Hopefully next time they have it. What's the I25 egg train?

It was a thread last year that people could send their chicks/eggs/whatever up and down I25. It was a way to swap without having to ship. I don't know if they'll start it back up again this year.

I was thinking about hosting a swap of some sorts here in Cruces since we never have had one in the area. Would anyone be interested?

I would be interested in the spring. Right now I'm rebuilding my flock. I also think that spring is when folks are looking for hatching eggs, chicks and even adults.

It would be in the spring, I think that it could be fun if we got enough people together. And olliegrow thats funny!

I think a swap (or even multiple swaps) would be a great idea. A friend of mine in Wisconsin says that there is one for them every weekend in the spring and fall, they take the summers off. They hold their swaps in feed store parking lots, don't know how that would work for us, but if not there I'm sure that we could find somewhere. It would be nice to have a swap in the Albuquerque are (they already have two working now), the Las Cruces/Alamogordo area, maybe middle western and middle eastern (Roswell?) parts of the state, or even the 4 corners area. Interesting idea, I'll think on it and see if I can't come up with some ideas.

Oh, and she said that hers aren't just poultry swaps, they have sheep, goats, pigs....almost anything livestock wise that can be transported and sold.

Count us in !! This is a GREAT idea to barter and sell to our neighbors and locals. We need to get the urban farming movement going and this is a perfect way to start or contribute ! We will have chickens/hens from all ages and eggs for eating an hatching..let me know your ideas, we are in Albuquerque, Thanks

This could be great! I can see if my local Tractor Supply wouldn't mind holding on in their parking lot. I would have dozens of hatching eggs and chicks for sale, and I am always on the look out for other breeds to add to my flock. I will start brainstorming as well!

They occasionally have informal swaps in the Four Corners (I've only seen advertised on craigslist) but it's nothing exciting. I *would* be interested if anyone from this forum wanted to meet-up; or it was going to be part of the I-25 egg train (that is, a pick-up or drop off point). But if everyone listed what they were bringing I'd travel to Albuquerque for a meet.

We are currently working on a list of what we have for trade and what we are looking for, other should probably do the same so we can all see...
We have 3 month old hens of golden lace wyandottes, and some barred rocks...also 5 week old pullets of RIR, Barred Rocks and Japanese Bantams, will have hatchlings all the time of many different varieties. We are looking for bantam aruacanas and bantam wellsummer pullets. Also looking for portable coops or tractors for 5-6 chickens....Putn it out there hoping so see what others have in the area...we are in Albuquerque...see you all around !
