I have shipped and received shipped birds & eggs. UPS and FedEx do not ship live animals. USPS will, but it is prohibitively expensive to ship adult birds. I would probably go the getting dad or a friend to pick them up route if it were me (which it isn't). For me, if it is within 8 hours I definitely pick them up, sometimes even greater driving distances. Just safer that way I think.I also have never shipped live animals before either, and normally would never even attempt it but since we live just 3 and a half hours away I thought that it may be ok. I think that UPS does deal with shipping live animals, so I can look into it. My dad does do some work up there so I can ask him when he is driving up next to see if we can maybe even pick them up. I have been researching japanese bantams like a mad woman and I think that I am in love! I am thinking about grabbing two pullets and maybe two or three of the little chicks that you have if any are still available.
