Thanks. I'm not really worried about it yet and so haven't done too much research on it. They are still fun to take care of and watch.

They are fun, and a bit addicting.

I also started out with just a few chickens.

I don't need any SH, but I may be in the same boat with my Ayam Cemani. Three of them seem a bit boyish, and only one is pullet-ish. Still early though (6 weeks) and I'm hoping I have at least one decent pair to start with.

When did your guys combs start popping out?
Well, I knew last week for sure. I would think, if they are similar, you will know very soon. Although have you picked them up? Two of my cockerels were noticeably heavier. I do have a friend who got Ayam Cemanis about the same time I got my Svart Honas, but he had like, 16 I think? He is in Ribera. So you might be able to trade with him, maybe, (don't want to speak for him) if you need to. At least, there is a good group of Ayams right here in the state that I know about.

@FridayYet here is a pic of mine, the pullet is in the front:

That one you are holding, that's the biter, that one looks like a cockerel to me. At least, that's the way mine looked. If I had more experience with this breed, I think I could have recognized the pullet lots earlier. Oh well, we all have to start somewhere...

Oh they are so cute!  Love that in-between stage before they get all their feathers and they still have down sticking out here and there.

These are my first fibromelanistics birds and my first single-combed birds in a ling time, so I have a bunch of learning to do too.

Yup, I'm pretty sure Biter is a cockerel, and I'm pretty sure one other is too. (the other big one)  The other two are a toss-up.

ETA: The other big one

FridayYet: LOL. The topmost picture of the birds looked like a bunch of crows got into your coop.

NMFlygirl: Welcome to Corrales! FridayYet and I both live here. We should all get together for coffee sometime?

Oh, that's very cool that you are all in Corrales like that! Must be great to be able to get together for coffee and talk birds. I'm 150 miles away, this is such a BIG state! LOL!
