Hi I am a new mom of 5 months and today I lost one of my girls. Two days ago she was withdrawn, and shaking her head, stopped eating and had diarrhea . I isolated her last night , took her to the vet today. He could not figure out what was wrong other than he said that she was" depressed and she fixin' to die" He gave her an antibiotic shot. He said her heart is strong, but this will either make her better or it will kill her. Well she died an hour ago. So my question. Is anyone here recognize these symptoms and if so help me to determine if this is an isolated case or will it run through the flock. Thank you all for your help.

Glad to meet you, but very sorry for the circumstance. So sorry for your loss. Best wishes with the rest of your birds. Here is a list of addresses to get the necropsy. Send the body to the lab for your state. It's worth doing to make sure you don't have something that will creep or rage through the rest of your flock!

Hello, welcome to BYC. I am so sorry for your loss. Your vet seems to lack empathy.
Did the vet do a float test for worms?
I agree that a necropsy is a good idea.
Are any of your other pullets showing symptoms? Do you see any discharge from eyes, beak, or mouth? Noisy breathing? Are combs red and are eyes bright?
Are they eating a good quality food?
