New Mom

So sorry for your loss, I've been there. What did the diarrhea look like? I learned (too late) that vivid green poop/diarrhea can mean lead exposure (if it's not from grass/green veg). I've also seen worms in their poop, and undigested seeds, which all point to different problems. If you didn't refrigerate your bird upon her death, you can't send her in for a necropsy, unfortunately. I have found most vets lack helpful knowledge on these feathered friends, who get sick from everything under the sun.

Welcome to BackYard Chickens! We're glad that you've popped in and joined us, and we hope that you enjoy your stay.
I'm sorry about your little hen. I hope that the others are healthy and that you can get some help soon.
Good luck with the rest of your flock, and may God bless you.

Hi I am a new mom of 5 months and today I lost one of my girls. Two days ago she was withdrawn, and shaking her head, stopped eating and had diarrhea . I isolated her last night , took her to the vet today. He could not figure out what was wrong other than he said that she was" depressed and she fixin' to die" He gave her an antibiotic shot. He said her heart is strong, but this will either make her better or it will kill her. Well she died an hour ago. So my question. Is anyone here recognize these symptoms and if so help me to determine if this is an isolated case or will it run through the flock. Thank you all for your help.
Welcome to BYC!! I’m sorry about your hen.. 😢
