Hello all. As the thread says, I'm new to chickens. I'm really a 46 year old man that is really enjoying all the responsibilities of raising Backyard Chickens! I have never had an egg until last year when my grandfather gave me some real, backyard raised, chicken eggs and the first thing I thought was, what the HELL have I been eating all my LIFE! Nothing in the stores come close to those few eggs I received from my grand paw. So,.... now I have 2 Dominiques, and 2 Golden Comets, (raised from day old chicks), and am looking for 1 new chick to raise that will lay me nothing but blue eggs. I just love the blue egg color. My girls are 12 weeks old now, have a kick butt coop, run, and nesting area, and I just simply can't wait to get my very first egg. My girls have quickly became a very important part of my life, and I look forward to doing this for the rest of my life, or at least as long as GOD allows me to do so. I am grateful for all the info I have found here, and I hope you all will welcome me to the BYC club.

There’s so many helpful, knowledgeable folks here and I’m sure you’ll find this site a very useful resource. Waiting for your pullets to come into lay will seem like forever
