Hello everyone--

Jumped into chickens feet first when I returned earlier this spring from Kuwait. I got 5 Spotted Sussex day-olds the on April 10 and am enjoying watching them grow. Wish the weather would warm up so I could at least get them out during the day, but that will have to wait.

Looking forward to good eggs, good eating, and good stories about the girls. I am trying to grow a substantial amount of my own food on my 1/3 acre here in suburban paradise, and chickens fit into that plan nicely.

Glad to have this resource here!

Hello and :welcome

Chicks can usually go outdoors when they're 5-6 weeks old if temps are above 50* at night. During the day you can let them out for small periods of time just for a bit of a scratch, if you watch them carefully no harm should be done!

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :frow
