So excited, as getting 4 rescue hens next Saturday. Just bought a coop, chicken wire and feeder. Would welcome any advice.thank you penny

Penny welcome, Chicken wire you may want to return. Most predators can easily rip the wire open so what you need to do is get what is called "Hardware Cloth". Make your coop and run out of it. The hens will be much safer. Also if the coop is a prefab one you need to reinforce it. Chickens need about 4 square feet of space per chicken in a coop so make sure it is big enough for your girls. Specially if your like us and end up getting more. Run is about 10 sq feet per chicken.

Getting chickens that are laying already is cool but don't be surprised if they stop laying for a little bit because of stress and not knowing their new surroundings. It will take them a little time to adjust before you may get a egg. Then again some will continue laying like nothing ever happened.

So good luck with your new flock we can't wait to see pictures of your girls soon.
