I only ask because I’ve been quite interested in the idea of peafowl. But now I feel bad I jumped in with that on somebody else’s thread. I hope you enjoy your new additions! I love the pictures

Yes it is louder. Actually it was funny because my peas seem to yell "MEEEEOOOWWW" so my neighbor contacted me after the first couple weeks they started yelling and told me "darn your peacocks, for the last two weeks I thought I had a cat under my trailer and it turns out that it was your birds I was hearing." LOL! I live in a small community out in the country on less than an acre. My peas have a big netted aviary and are near my bedroom window and they do not wake me up when they yell. I find the noise less annoying then a rooster crow and certainly less annoying then a dog barking nonstop but louder.

I have been told by many peafowl people that around 8 weeks you can tell the sex of an IB chick. Females will have a more sooty or smudgy pattern on their wings where the males will be more obvious and distinct in the barring on the wings.

Four to six weeks on a plain IB.
