Hi..I'm a new owner of 3 peafowl. A peahen came into our 2 wks ago. No owner has come forward. So I've been caring for her. We purchased a peacock (apprx 5mos) & peahen a little younger. My stray seems really happy with the babies here. I'm keeping the babies cooped until they've homed. The stray comes in the empty coop where they can eat & interact with each other through wire partition. I've always had birds, chickens, ducks, guineas. But this is my 1st time with peafowl. I came across BYC by chance will researching & glad I did. I'm sure I'll be asking questions & researching for answers. Here are pics of my majestic birds.

Your post reminded me of a book by Sean Flynn, "Why Peacocks?" written when he, like you, didn't set out to be a peacock owner. Although I didn't buy my copy from Amazon, it describes Flynn's book as: "An acclaimed journalist seeks to understand the mysterious allure of peacocks—and in the process discovers unexpected and valuable life lessons".

You might enjoy reading it -- if you have any free time with all your new bird friends!!

Welcome to BYC and congrats on the BEAUTIFUL birds!
