In my other post I mentioned Tiny to you guys but the thread got old before anyone got a chance to answer...so here is a new picture that shows Tiny pretty well.
IMG_2057.jpg

The question is why is she/he so small? Is she just little? Is she is bantam? Any ideas? I think the picture shows it pretty well. The others weight between 6.75 and 7.25 ounces and she weighs 3 and 1/8 ounces. They can almost straddle her when they stand.

Thanks!

I have a BR runt the only thing on her that has grown is feathers, she is 4 wks old and I really can't tell that she has grown any. I had to separate her from the rest as I was afraid they would trample her, she eats and drinks and does all the other chickie stuff . I don't think that she is a bantam she was the same size as the others when I received them. DH says 'great it will live 20 yrs eat twice as much as the others and never lay an egg'...he has such a sunny outlook on things sometimes, lol.
truthfully though I kind of feel like this one will never make it to maturity, something must be wrong that it isn't growning. However there is no way I could cull it.

She(he? I have no idea, think she is a pullet though) is 3 weeks old. She has always been the smallest, but the difference is much more noticable now. She eats and drinks fine. Never is picked on and when outside is often the most "busy" She has a great eye for finding good things to explore.
Her feathers look as good or better than any of the others.

Guess I will just have to wait and she what happens over time.

I know that some think that a bantam is a different breed, and there are some bantam only breeds too, but it is possible to breed your own bantams if you use small eggs or eggs from new layers. The chicks just get smaller and smaller.

I have a few turkey tiny chicks that are the same age as their huge brothers and sisters but the eggs were from a younger turkey laying smaller eggs, which suits me fine

They eat well and are active and oh so cute!

Aww .. strangely this is how Rex looked until she caught up to the others a week or so later, but I do suppose yours could be a bantam. Rex has decided that now she is a big girl but still a hint smaller than the others, that she needs a "vantage" point and every time I open the coop door, she makes the tremendous effort of flying up to my shoulder. She feels pretty big up there.

Jess had a black orp that was Miniscule compared to the others. It took weeks for it to start growing and now it is almost up to normal. It is as large as the hens, but is obviously a roo so it should be larger.

The pic says 3/10 which makes it almost 9 weeks old now.
