New pics of Mystery Duckling! *Updated again!*

I've seen lighter colored Khaki ducklings before. Especially at our local feed store where Justin had Appleyards, Khakis, and Pekins.

I was on the Cackle hatchery site and saw a picture of their day old Khaki ducklings and thought the lighter ones in the pictures, looked similar to yours.

He also looks like the Harlequin ducklings in the top-view photo on the Cackle site.

Cackle has only one variety of Runner, and this is the only picture of their Runner ducklings. I thought the bill was too light in color to match your's.

LOL. It may just be one of those things where you have to wait and see what he turns out to be as an adult. He sure is a cute thing.

I say either Welsch Harlequin or maybe even a light Blue Swedish?

Given the coices at Cackle, I would say Harlequin, which I love! I wish I had pictures of mine when they were babies, but I do think this could be one. Harlequins do stand fairly upright.

Too dark on the head to be Saxony in my opinion.

Well from the pic the color is right for a snowy call. And you said that it was smaller but the same size. So maybe they got him/her in a different shipment.

I really appreciate the suggestions about this little guy's(or girl's) breed. No pictures look exactly like him...do you think a hatchery would cross-breed? I doubt I would get a reply from the hatchery if I emailed them his picture. I think he looks close to the Welsh Harlequin and Saxony, but Cackle only has Harlequins. His little tail feathers look like they are coming in a pretty light color, a bit lighter than the dark color on his back. And he does seem to be fa irly vertically inclined like my supposed Crested F&W Runner, Admiral.

**ALSO something else I forgot to mention!! He is white down his chest and belly, the rest of his body is yellow and then there is the dark areas down his back and head.**

Does that information help? I can't believe I forgot to mention that earlier.

You could try emailing the hatchery, the worst that would happen will be a no-response or a "sorry we can't help you." I would try it though, personally. Just a quick email with a few attached pictures(different angles) and send it off. Like I said, what's the worst they can do? Best case scenario they are really good about it and say something like "Oh yeah, that's this breed for sure, most of our ducklings from that line look alot like that."

No, I do not believe the hatcheries would crossbreed, unless there is a demand for the hybrid, like with Cornish Cross chickens.

^^I will take some good pictures when I replenish their overnight food here shortly. I'm going to post the pictures here in this thread, and send them Cackle. Maybe they will answer me. After all...I DID buy their poultry catalog(for the 450 in-color bird photos) for $3 yesterday!!

Here are 2 new pictures I am sending to Cackle. He is really hard to photograph, but these show his coloration and posture quite closely to the way he looks in person. It also shows how much smaller he is than my others, and he does have a bit more baby feathers on his tail than my others do, so he must be the same age. Apparrently he is a bit of a mystery. I hope they send me a response!
