Hi Goosedragon,

I am sorry I upset you with my comment.

I appreciate that some people who ring
"looking for free pets" as I said are trying
to help out or do something nice.

However, we have to ensure any animal in our care
is going to back to the wild if it is native or will be safe,
and I can definately say that not any of the people
that have rang me personally have any interest at all for the animals welfare.

You would probably not believe the way some people keep animals.

So, like most things, a few people wreck it for everyone.

I don't know where you are located, but in Australia it is highly
illegal to feed live animals (live insects are ok as far as I know)
to any animal in captivity - even for "training purposes".
Falconry also is illegal in NSW.

Sorry for upsetting you, I just have the animals welfare in mind.
Best Wishes, Kristy.

You would probably not believe the way some people keep animals. Oh I would beleive, all you have to do is read some of the posts right here on this board. Most is due to lack of knowledge, thats why I post.

So, like most things, a few people wreck it for everyone.

to any animal in captivity - even for "training purposes". So you are telling me that any carrnivore you raise from young to release are turned out without any ideal of how to hunt? How does that work out for them? Do they hang out around humans and eat their garbage or do they just starve to death out of sight? Now that upsets me! No offence meant but I am going use other OZ contacts to try to verify what you said.
Falconry also is illegal in NSW. Thats fine with me but see the quote below that I cut and pasted from Wikipedia

"In Australia, although falconry is not specifically illegal, it is illegal to keep any type of bird of prey in captivity without the appropriate permits. The only exemption is when the birds are kept for purposes of rehabilitation (for which a licence must still be held), and in such circumstances it may be possible for a competent falconer to teach a bird to hunt and kill wild quarry, as part of its regime of rehabilitation to good health and a fit state to be released into the wild."-Wikipedia~gd North Carolina, USA
