New pigeons, how long should I keep them before letting them fly?

I have recently bought four rollers at the age of 3-4weeks old and have keep them in there kit for a week now, I've read that that is long enough for a bird to imprint on its home and was wondering if it is safe to let them out and fly yet. They are not trap trained or anything yet but was thinking of doing that while they were flying. Is this a good idea?
