Hi there, I’m new to the backyard chicken game and I originally bought 5 RIR chicks from a reputable hatchery and they’re now around 5 weeks old.
A few days ago someone local to me who is a large scale breeder that sells at markets had 7 week old ISA brown x leghorns for sale and I picked up two.
When I got them home I stupidly (didn’t know then you need to quarantine) put them in with the 5 week old RIR’s for just a few hours and noticed one of them was starting to sneeze.
I pulled them both out immediately and isolated them in the garage.
That night the one that was sneezing whilst roosting had a rattled breathing.
The second pullet started also sneezing today but I gave them electrolytes and vitamins during the day. There doesn’t seem to be any discharge or swelling from eyes or nose.

Would you suggest culling these 2 new pullets? Also what’s the chance all the other chicks now have caught whatever they had from the few hours of exposure to these chickens. Thanks!

My 6 pullets went on a sneezing spree a couple weeks ago I watched closely for a couple days, was gonna get an antibiotic, then no more sneezing.
It may be stress from new environment, drier air, different humidity/air from their previous home.
Who knows. Keep em separate and watch closely for additional symptoms.
Your doing good!

Thanks for the input! They seem to be sneezing a lot less today so I’ll play it by ear. And there’s so major symptoms otherwise, I’m hoping it’s the new environment or even the chick starter that’s a little dusty!!
