New pullets won't eat

How frustrating this must be...and so strange.
Wonder if you put those scrambled eggs on top of some starter feed in a separate dish, they get a taste for the feed?

Sounds like you're doing a good job. Good news about their poo! Just one other thing: do they have access to grit? Are they eating it? If you're not sure, I would sprinkle some on top of their scrambled eggs...the last thing we want right now is an impacted crop!

Keep going with the scrambled eggs, and keep us updated!

I had a pan with sand and dirt in the crate before, but I removed that, and I'm only letting them have feed and eggs for now. I'm starting with the eggs plain, and I'm going to slowly mix in some feed, a little bit more each time. Every time I tried mixing the feed 50/50--even when I added water to soften the feed--they would peck around it. It is really weird, it's like they just despise the feed, no matter how hungry they get.

Hm...that is so odd. I totally get taking away the sand/dirt, but if they're not getting access to the outdoors, I would imagine they still need some grit to properly digest the eggs. Just buy the 5 lb poultry grit at TSC and mix a small amount in the eggs. Or, let them outside for a while every day so they can pick up stones themselves!

So where are your hens now? Still in the crate inside? If their poo is normal and they seem to enjoy scratching outside, I might put them out at this point. It's an option anyway.

Slowly mixing is a great idea. Let us know how it's going.

I mixed a small amount of feed with scrambled eggs today and they gobbled it up. They ate some crushed egg shells too. Tonight I saw them eating their feed vigorously for the first time! Either the Corid is working or the eggs are getting their "stomachs" gently stretched back out.

I really think three days in the shipping box almost killed them both, and for two weeks they just were drinking a ton of water to rehydrate, which would explain the watery poo. They still seem to be drinking more than eating, and having some diarrhea, but I things are slowly improving. I had no idea recovery would be this long.

yep... mix it in! They will get the gist. Oh and grit so they can digest the grass and scratch...(maybe you had that) I had grown hens in quarantine that wouldn't eat a bite!!!! I asked here at BYC if chickens would really just starve themselves to death. They didn't! I did get them outside ASAP, I think the long car trip and the garage sequester totally freaked them.

They wouldn't eat tomato dices or strawberries.

Oh, check crops...if they have eaten too big a shavings or long grass could be a block...making them only want to nibble.

Great news!

I think your recovery theory is spot on.
