New Puppy Time!!

Get him used to it when he’s young. In fact, you should try out a lot of “scary” items with him. Plastic bags, loud sounds, all that jazz. It really pays off in the end!
You are so right! We are taking him on car rides, into stores, socializing him, (he LOVES people thankfully) plenty of loud noises around here, :D he is doing great!

Toby is growing by leaps and bounds now, I swear he looks bigger every day! His coat is becoming lighter in color, common in this breed of dog, only time will tell what his adult coat will look like.

When I was breeding dogs, the pups got their first minor trim at 10 days old. I just cleaned out their stop (space between eyes) and top of ears to check placement. Most accepted it without a fuss.

Believe me it makes a big difference in a breed that needs frequent trimming. Before long they accept everything without a peep.

I've really been working with him daily with different grooming tools, working around his eyes and face, paws, feet, etc... He got his first full grooming a few days ago, he was getting quite bushy. I used thinning shears, haven't tried the electric clippers yet, but he did so well! He stayed still, let me thin his entire coat, trim around his eyes and face, trimmed nails, cleaned ears, he was such a good boy! Huge difference from 4 weeks ago when he panicked at the sight of a comb. :D

Wow, that's great! Sounds like fantastic progress to me!

:thumbsup
He is not skittish or nervous around us, very trusting dog. Very smart too. Since grooming will be a huge part of his life, I started working on him the second day after he arrived, I love doing the grooming and its easier on him not to have to go to groomers every 6 weeks.

Toby is 13 weeks old today! His Maltese side is really starting to show as his coat is really getting lighter now. I love his brown nose, brown eye rings and lips, his father was a chocolate Yorkshire Terrier. He has hazel green eyes. 💗

For coat comparison....

The potty training is really starting to click with him now and he goes to the door when he needs to go out. He is quite smart for his age and training is very easy with him, he learns things very fast!! 💗
